At Sportsmans Park St Louis Cardinals defeat the New York Yankees 4 to 0 in the fourth inning thanks to Haines driving a homer. Weather drenched crowd as rain interrupted play earlier in the day.
In a rain interrupted game the Yankees fail to score in the eighth and ninth as Ruth and Gehrig post a sharp hit apiece. Bottomley adds a key single for the Cardinals while Hafey and Dugan contribute outs. The late framing ends with no runs no hits and no errors.
Oklahoma towns report gradual retreat from flood threat as Caney and other rivers fall. Refugees in Bartlesville return home while Muskogee area remains guarded by converging Arkansas, Grand and Verdigris waterways. Tulsa sees Arkansas recede and Chickasha anticipates Washita rise from Clinton rains.
The home team fans cheer as Haines works the mound against Ruth and Hornsby. Southworth delivers a sharp single and a lively hit and run prompts action with Bottomley later thrown out at first. No runs, one hit, no errors.

In Rockwood Tennessee rescue crews removed two more corpses bringing total to six from the Roan Iron Mining explosion near Rodgers Entry. Officials say about 22 still inside as crowd waits in rain for updates.
G C Milner is held in parish jail on charges of attempting to assault a 10 year old girl. He was captured on DeSiard road after a storekeeper overheard an attempt to lure Antonio Williams from 2408 Grammon street. Milner fled city, was stopped by patrol wagon, and handed to the sheriff.
Ralph Rhodes a cowboy at 101 ranch near Ponca City Oklahoma drowned today while attempting to guide his horse through Arkansas river flood waters. The horse became entangled in barb wire and Rhodes body has not been recovered.
New York October reports Peaches Browning the Cinderella bride has left her 51 year old real estate husband Edward W. Browning after six months of marriage. She left with her mother from their Long Island apartment citing his words as the cause and promising a return only if he speaks. The Browning camp offered no word on when or where she might be found.
A government aide stated the split is temporary with no quarrel. The pair agreed to separate briefly, having given up their Kew Gardens apartment. Browning moved from his Long Island residence to a New York hotel as Mrs. Browning and a child reportedly stayed with a mother.
Washington. The Byrd polar flight plane tour will visit about 40 cities nationwide starting October 7 from Washington. Floyd Bennett will pilot the tour with Byrd not flying. dates to be set later. Paris October 5 Premier Poincare says France must ratify the Washington debt agreement as approved by Ambassador Berenger and Secretary Mellon. He favors ratification with oral reservations to appear in the official journal, aiming to placate critics without altering the pact’s validity for the United States.
