Supt. Van D. Odom announces home visitations for October 6 and 7 in the Monroe city schools. In the afternoons white elementary schools dismiss so teachers visit pupils at home to foster cooperation and better understanding between home and school. All colored schools will observe visitation on the same days.
Monroe city detectives on Monday investigated two minor burglaries and a mobile theft from the weekend. A 1952 Ford Tudor was stolen Sunday morning from the First Baptist Church lot by an auto thief reported by C. B. Sublett. A $4 loss from Acme Funeral Home worker David I. Oliver’s pockets was noted after an entry through a removed screen. Joe Martin and spouse reported a home entry Saturday night with nothing missing.
Monroe man G. S. Stovall, 44, was arrested Monday by Ouachita Parish sheriff’s deputies and Monroe police, charged with bigamy. He is being held in parish jail in lieu of a $1.59 bond.

Two men sought by Ouachita parish sheriff are in custody. L P Strickland of Monroe is charged with tire theft valued at 2214 after arrest in Magnolia Arkansas. F E Freeman, 29 of Fairbanks faces five counts of theft by check drawn on the Stringington bank.
Members of the government and educational division met with Paul Neal, division chairman, in Hotel Virginia to receive assignments and instructions. Neal urged quick distribution of duties and expressed confidence in reaching a $5,000 quota, noting payroll deduction now aids government, state, and parish employees. The group, led by Neal with a long roster of contributors, prepares to push donations.
Dr. W. Carroll Summer of Ouachita parish health unit announces a mobile X-ray trailer from Louisiana health department tuberculosis control will visit Sterlington and nearby areas this week. Schedule includes Power and Light Co and Commercial Solvents Co in Sterlington and Fairbanks locations with hours from 8 to 12 and 1 to 4 daily. The bus has X-rayed over 1,250 Ouachita residents in two weeks and urges Sterlington and Fairbanks residents to screen, noting early detection aids cure.

Ferol Willbanks of Monroe La has been elected vice president of the McCracken Club at North Texas State College. Willbanks, a senior library service major, is son of Mrs Betty Willbanks 219 S Riverfront. He is active in library student activities.

Carr, McCarthy, and Roy Cohn stood central in the Army case hearings. McCarthy defends his anti-Communist funding and asserts IRS completed a review of his finances.

Northwestern State College reports a fall enrollment of 1682 by Thursday, with veterans and late registrations pushing toward 1700. The breakdown shows 727 education, 252 arts and sciences, 298 applied arts and sciences, 404 nursing, including 143 veterans and 32 out-of-state students from multiple states.
The program adds typing, accounting, advanced shorthand and business machines as subjects. These courses run Monday and Thursday nights from 7 to 9 p.m. Radio and television classes are already held on these evenings.

Eu gene Hudson, son of Mrs. Elgin Hudson of Vidalia, is undergoing recruit training at the Marine Corps recruiting depot in San Diego California. After completion he will be assigned to Camp Pendleton for further training or to one of the Marine Corps schools for specialized instruction.
