Rayville Lets Contract for Drainage Job
Special to The News-Star Rayville La Oct 4 Bids for paving and drainage projects were opened by the mayor and city council. The excavation contract for Little Creek to drain the town went to Jacobson & Murchison of Hammond at 10.85 cents per cubic yard for 60 000 to 80 000 yards. Five paving bids were received and rejected after tabulation. The paving project will be advertised later.

In Abbeville Louisiana on October 4 a three year old boy, Dan Broussard, son of Mr and Mrs Aliface Broussard of Prairie Graig, died after falling into a boiling water cauldron while playing with his pet lamb. He tripped while holding a rope attached to the tied lamb as it moved toward the water.
