Friday Sunbeams meet at First Baptist Church from 3 40 to 5 30 pm. Tuesday W M U business meeting at First Baptist Church at 3 pm. Mrs Thomas Hayes and her little son visit relatives in Monroe. Alexandria Town Talk notes Eloise Bell at home after a hiatus.
Aletand residents report vacations, illnesses, and family visits as Craig Hayes and John B. Mays Jr. recover at home. Mrs. Johnson improves with her sister aiding, and others plan to deliver aid to Ruston Orphanage. The First Baptist Church W. M. U. meets to study State Missions and raises funds for the 75 million campaign.
At a Wednesday meeting Mrs. E K Means Way hosted a decision to affiliate with the Louisiana Federation of Women’s Clubs. L F WoC president Mrs. Albert Storm will visit October 18. The program covered Reconstruction in our country with topics on Industrial and Commercial Readjustments and Education of the Future. Residents enjoyed red roses and a confectionery course. Next hostess Mrs. Sidney Stroud will preside October 23, with October 15 meeting date moved to avoid parish fair conflicts.
Saturday Miss Jennie O Kelly will entertain at cards from 3 to 6 p m for Mrs W P Lavin of Chicago at her home 123 North Sixth. Mr and Mrs W H Petty and Virginia Sue of Durant Miss and Mrs Mamie Chiles of Tebula Miss have been guests of Mr and Mrs J A Petty of the West Side and left for home Monday. Mr and Mrs S Slagle of Clarks La return home after visiting Mrs Slagle's relatives Philip H Chauvin. Mrs Walter L Smith arrived from a three months stay in California. Ming Matic are returned to Lae Francis Sanitetium after a vacation in New Orleans and Cooper's Wells.
Mrs Roberson plans a Dallas trip including time at the State Fair in Dallas. Miss Jennie OKelly hosts a card party for Mrs Lavin of Chisago. EF Pegram stays with Breard on River Front. The Book Club met at City Hall with Mrs Allen presiding and plans for October programs. Rabbi Fichman lectures tentatively set for October 29. Y M H A dance at Jackson street club rooms featured many guests and a large guest list. M T Moomaw from Washington DC visits cousin Booze, first meeting in 30 years. School moves Dorothy Russell and Elgrade students to the old Masonic building annex on Walnut street.
Washington reports strong support from states and towns for the Federal Board for Vocational Education’s retraining program. Tulane University’s new building in New Orleans houses try-out courses and related shops while Grubb School in Fou 4 receives state funds to aid the training effort.
Jeff Lacey, a colored man, was arrested in West Monroe by Sheriff Grant for stealing a horse, saddle, and bridle from Mt Maria church near Chatham on September 6. He attempted to sell the horse to Clyde Mitchell and then to Fred R. Mitchell for £50, using a check and buying a hat with cash. he also claimed a Texas escape from Clarksville.
Augusta readers report a rheumatism and indigestion relief from Number 40 For The Blood. The writer says arms became usable, condition improved noticeably, and plans to continue the treatment. They claim to have advised friends who also saw great results and endorse No 40 for those with blood or stomach problems.
