A crowded Monroe city scene sees a large influx of veterans and visitors from across Louestana attracted by a public event or reunion. Local organizers report strong turnout and community support as ceremonies proceed with speeches and commemorations.
Large crowd gathers in Monroe for state reunion of Confederate Veterans Daughters of the Confederacy and Sons of Confederate Veterans. Delegates arrive from New Orleans Alexandria and other points as Arcadia band provides music and ceremonies begin at 12 o clock with remarks by May or Forsythe and Mrs Youree of Shreveport.
The program lists a reception at the Gordon home on Walnut street from 5:80 to 7:30 pm for visiting Daughters of the Confederacy. At 7:00 pm badges are presented to sponsors and maids of honor in the Monroe hotel parlors. A historical evening directed by Mrs Allison follows at the City School Auditorium. Thursday features Vetans and Daughters sessions at 9:20 am in the Auditorium and City Council chamber with afternoon business meetings to follow.

A gang of robbers dynamited the vaults of the First State Bank of Dardanell Arkansas early today and looted several thousand dollars. Citizens armed with rifles engaged the robbers in a one hour battle. one robber was wounded and the group escaped with loot.
The House passed a Democrat tariff measure despite opposition from three Louisiana lawmakers. The bill now moves to the Senate for consideration and potential revision.
The House adopted the main conference report on the Democratic tariff revision bill 244 to 10 representing a party line vote except for the cotton futures tax.
