General Pershing at American headquarters in France declared Thanksgiving Day victory by American soldiers came with hard fighting and sacrifices. He said the debt to Lafayette had been paid as the invader was driven back in defeat.
General Pershing allocates 3451 officers and 76663 men for early convoy to the United States. Revisions show total casualties to Nov 26 at 262723 with 28363 killed and 12021 died of wounds. December returnees expected 156000 to 375000. naval transport adds capacity. Army appropriation trimmed from 19 billion to under 3 billion. Medals to be awarded to Generals Hiss Liggett Allard Dickman McAnew Harboard by President Wilson.
The Monroe fire department responded to two alarms today. A roof fire at 615 Ouachita Avenue was extinguished in the morning and a similar incident at Reardany Tenth Street in the afternoon caused minimal damage. Damages in both cases are under ten dollars.
