Britain and France urge Congress to back a pact with a liberalized framework aimed at mobilizing billions for new homes nationwide. The proposals stress national security and economic stimulus through expanded housing programs.

He lived in Louisiana most of his life, with a 1918 1936 residence in New Orleans and earlier periods in Jeanerette Lake Charles Ruston and Mon.
Secretary of War Woodring called for a stronger army and faster modern equipment growth as a defense against attack. He urged 500 regular officers yearly to raise total officers to 14,500 and increase enlisted strength from 162,000 to 190,000, while warning against a feverish arms race.
The Caliche, a 7104 ton gasoline tanker, ran aground at Double Bayou near the Mississippi River mouth. A tug from New Orleans freed the vessel in Southwest Pass as Captain A Elfstrom and a 30 man crew aboard worked to refloat it after it had sailed coastwise with 56 000 barrels of gasoline. The Good Fellows Fund received a $56.75 donation and a $1 check with a letter about helping children in need.
Atlanta November 29 A life battle in an iron lung ended in death for Harry Palmear 47 of Plaquemine Louisiana at Piedmont hospital. He entered on November 11 with a collapsed lung from an unknown cause his condition grew critical two days later and the iron lung was brought from Warm Springs foundation Palmear born in England had worked as a dredging engineer in Louisiana for seven years.
