William L Humphreys of Greenville won a late third district special election defeating J C Roberts of Cleveland by a narrow margin. With 12 precincts missing his lead stood 43 votes. total district turnout was about 10 000 from a normal 30 000 due to light interest and some precincts not voting. Humphreys will succeed his late father Benjamin G Humphreys who served twenty years.
H L Thomas a well known farmer and stock raiser died after injuries from an attack by a Jersey bull on his farm near Normandy Tennessee The incident occurred last Thursday and the death was reported today authorities said the victim was described as a successful farmer and stock raiser.
Oklahoma state senate rejected section one of the anti-Ku Klux Klan bill which would have made names of officers of secret orders public. Senator Charles E. McPherron of Durant proposed an amendment requiring local officers of secret organisations to maintain member lists to be produced by order of a competent court.
Arraignment of former governor J C Walton on eight indictments accusing diversion of public funds and dispersal of state funds is continued to Monday. Health commissioner E A Davenport and Walton associate T H Edwards face separate actions with Davenport granted a separate trial and plead by Friday. A seventh misdemeanor count against Walton remains in county court.
