Acadia leader John T. Michel tours the Rice Belt attracting broad support as his campaign swings through the region. Local organizers report growing backing amid a crowded field and rising delegate interest.
Hon. John T. Michel wrapped a successful campaign in Acadia Parish despite heavy rains. Crowley Church Point and Rayne hosted large audiences with strong support from business leaders. He is expected to win a sizable January primary majority. He will address Baton Rouge voters Monday night and tour East Baton Rouge parish on Tuesday.
John T. Michel, candidate for governor, visited Church Point on Saturday. He met 103 voters at Branx's Hall with speeches by Loys Charbonnet, I D Wall, and Michel. Charbonnet spoke in French. meeting chaired by S H Hornsby.
From Ransdell headquarters the four day tour began Monday through Kinder Oberlin Oakdale Merryville DeRidder Welsh Jennings Vinton Sulphur and Lake Charles. The aim was to rally supporters and build momentum with a favorable reception and strong backing expected in the region.

In Savannah on November 27 Frank Witt won the Tiedeman trophy race of 171.40 miles in 176 minutes 19 seconds driving an E. M. F. car. Robert Evans was runner up in an E. M. F. and Jack Tower placed third in an E. M. F. Hughie Hughes captured the Savannah challenge trophy race of 222.82 miles in 195 minutes 387 seconds driving a Mercer with Heineman second in a Marmon six minutes back.
Robert Washington was arrested Saturday and jailed for stealing a yearling from his brother in law Dave Price and selling it to Mike Hermann. All but 50 cents was recovered as the investigation concluded.
Farmer leader B F Yoakum says Southern farmers pay excessive interest to finance crops and supports a nationwide banking and currency plan to secure equal rates and terms for banks across the country. Continued on Page Five.
Carl Mourfield and George Zeigin completed two notable flights yesterday at Forsythe park. The Curtiss Model Army Type Biplane, assembled east of the hardwood mill, performed well in its first tests. The first takeoff occurred in front of the grandstand near the Cole and Logan plantations, with a safe return to the starting area.
Berry Britton and Holman Britton were found guilty of murdering Gabriel Nuna Labry at Fish Pond on October 6. The verdict carried no death sentence though jurors debated since Friday. Motions for a new trial will be heard December 5 with a Supreme Court appeal likely.
A three member commission appointed by Judge Madison found Joe Grady had a temporary insanity episode due to epilepsy and noted ten percent of epileptics lose their minds entirely. They advised placement in an epilepsy treatment facility. court action was deferred and trial set for tomorrow. Grady is represented by Judge Gundy. Mrs. M. J. Butler returned to Shreveport after two weeks with relatives.
In Monroe, Mr. Moorfield flew twice in a Curtiss model army type biplane designed to carry a passenger. The first ascent was observed only by a few friends, the second ended on the track enclosure after circling near the city. The craft is built by Moorfield and George Zeigin, continuing local aviation experiments.
Visiting financiers praised Louisiana resources and New Orleans harbor while forecasting long term benefits from the Bankers Association convention. They cited land deals, port improvements, and the Louisiana Development League as catalysts for future investment and growth in the state.
