Bastrop high school won the North Louisiana championship by a unanimous vote of a three-member committee from the region. The panel issued only that Bastrop was the unanimous choice and declined to discuss proceedings from the all-day session at the Washington hotel in Shreveport.
Shreveport officials weigh whether Bastrop undefeated can be declared north Louisiana champions without a playoff or must face C E Byrd in a decisive game. Chairman Jack Hayes favors Bastrop. Joe Farrar backs a playoff. I L Strictland has the deciding vote pending presented evidence.
New York November 25 Mickey Walker world middleweight champion and manager Jack Kearns were placed on the ineligible list of the New York state athletic commission for failing to reply within 30 days to a challenge from George Courtney of Oklahoma for a title bout.
In Odessa Texas at Citi zens National Bank two bandits were confronted by Sheriff Reeder Webb of Craig county and his posse. The first bandit died in the exchange and the second was mortally wounded. The Texas Bankers Association had offered a five thousand dollar reward for dead bandits only. Bandits had terrorized the southwest with daytime robberies, leading to arrests and the conviction of Matthew Kimes for murder and other crimes.
Ford executives announce the new Henry Ford car will be publicly shown in the United States, Canada, and England on Friday December 2. The company expects to spend nearly 800 million dollars on labor and materials in 1928 as part of its production plan. David Jones age 82 of 209 Louise Anne avenue died at a local hospital after injuries from a Sunday night collision with a car driven by Charles Thomas of Grand street. He had a skull fracture, recovered briefly, then died Thursday afternoon. Jones attended First Baptist church and is survived by his wife and eight children. Funeral at 3 pm at W. B. Corry funeral home with Rev. L. T. Hastings officiating. burial at Riverview Burial Park.
Radio reports say the Ward liner Mexico grounded on Blanquilla or Palanquilla Reef near Vera Cruz but later headed for the harbor under its own power. The vessel, en route from New York to Tampico, had bow damage but was delayed only briefly with a rescue steamer sent to aid.
Nathan Berd and Bunyan Fleming, both convicted of an attack on a white girl, were hanged in the Hopkins county jail yard Madisonville Kentucky. The executions drew a large crowd with National Guard and machine gunners on standby. Bard declared his innocence and forgave all as he faced death Fleming followed, also professing innocence and faith in heaven. The case had involved three defendants with Columbus Hollis serving a sentence in a state penitentiary. The attack occurred in April 1926 near Madisonville involving a Mobile Alabama resident visiting relatives.
Patrick F. Reardon a veteran of the carbon black field and early pioneer, was found dead at his home at 7 30 this morning from heart disease. Born in Binghamton New York he helped start the first natural gas powered carbon black plant in Ludlow Pennsylvania in 1883 marking a key moment in the industry. His death ends a long career as a leading figure in American carbon black development.

William Bowden a cotton broker died yesterday on a train toward Baton Rouge after suffering a heart attack shortly after leaving Union Station. He passed away before reaching Carrollton Avenue station on the New Orleans line.
Centenary coach Homer H Norton issued a formal challenge to the undefeated Georgia Bulldogs for any date before Christmas and on any mutually agreed ground. Norton cited Centenary’s ten straight wins including a 59 to 2 win over Louisville and 261 points scored this season.

The auto wreck near Alexandria identified Aubrey Reeder 17 son of Henry Reeder of Flat Woods as the victim. The car’s radius rod broke while returning to Zimmerman Front causing three rolls. He worked at a Zimmerman Front logging camp. Robertson was initially suspected but joined the navy.
In Painesville Ohio Peter McCrory 47 shot and killed his two stepsons Fred Cook 29 and Alex Cook 26 after confronting them at his estranged wife's home. Arthur McCrory 19 was wounded in the arm before the father killed himself. Mrs McCrory suffered a minor facial wound and was hospitalized. The violence followed a divorce filing.
In Memphis on November 25 a Canton Mississippi couple chose names for their month old triplets after soliciting readers for ideas. The babies are named Maxine Maurine and Walter Jr following a flood of 60 000 submissions to the Memphis Evening Appeal.
Several hundred convicts at Folsom Prison surrendered their arms and freed four guards after threats of flooding the cellhouse and starvation. Warden Smith refused leniency as national guardsmen and armed officers maintained lockdown while more than 1,200 inmates remained. At least eleven were dead and twenty one wounded in the Thanksgiving Day uprising.
Hom er French deputy sheriff was struck in the right thigh by a bullet fired by another deputy as a fleeing prisoner attempted to escape in Beaumont Texas. The prisoner was captured later after the chaotic center city chase.
