The Washington conference committee authorized a subcommittee led by Senator Lodge to study extraterritorial rights in China. The Chinese delegation called its position reasonable and all powers agreed in principle to abolish extraterritorial rights, with a prompt but careful timeline to implement.
Jos G Bell's injunction suit against Monroe officials seeking to bar new debts and pledges of credit was dismissed in the Sixth District Court on motion by plaintiff's attorney Charles Easterling. Trial had consumed much of last week, with city officials insisting the case lacked basis and that building projects continued. The North Side school construction proceeds and is expected to be ready for occupancy by January.
Washington report notes nine delegations meeting as a committee of the whole to discuss extra territoriality while talks on land and naval armaments pause as experts prep detailed opinions.

The F. T. Smith store on Sixth Street was burglarized with 400 to 500 dollars taken along with a watch and other items. Deputy Sheriff D. L. Roeper arrested a suspect named Mosely who faces charging decisions as authorities probe an easy back entrance used by the burglars.
Marconi Company announced successful wireless test messages sent from Canarvon Wales direct to Australia and Atlanta. Reports note the event as a milestone in cross continental wireless communication.
Railroads Missouri Pacific and Vicksburg Shreveport and Pacific study fuel oil versus coal with tentative change plans. Arkansas Louisiana Missouri and Ouachita field lines plan to switch soon. El Dorado refineries expand output and build four new plants to meet rising demand of oil and gasoline shipments.

San Francisco reports the defense plans to call Irene Morgan of Los Angeles as a key star witness in the Arbuckle manslaughter trial. Morgan will testify about Virginia Rappe s health and behavior, warn of drinking, and allege brutality by a male associate. The defense also cites three more nurses and many character witnesses from the film world to support Arbuckle’s reputation.

City of Monroe begins several improvement efforts with Walnut Street paving from DeSiard to Hudson Lane by Monday and a half million dollar sewer plan. E J Deas Construction of Shreveport to oversee Walnut Street work with sheet asphalt over a six inch concrete base. Allies Contractors of Omaha to start sewer pumping station work and North through the city, with Lock Joint Pipe Company installing pipes. Project completion targeted within fifteen months.
The Lucky Seven Coil Company moves to drill on 700 acres across Union and nearby parishes after geologists deem Union largely similar to the El Dorado structure. Offices are in Junction City with trustee J. M. McMickle to oversee operations. Capitalization is $35,000, funded recently.
Officials of the Union Saw Mill Company announce the $1 million plant at Huttig will be completed and ready to operate on January 1. The larger mill replaces the one burned months ago and will employ more workers, with several hundred men starting work when it “blows in” and more to follow. E. F. Frost and other directors from Shreveport toured the site and expressed great pleasure at progress.
A few small transactions were negotiated in Monroe territory in recent days. Clerk of court officials note deals are not as numerous or large as last November. Purchases include Isidore Sugar to Delia Pittman for half of lot eight square nine Hart's addition for 500 dollars, W H Bailey to J A Smith and C A Nenny for land in square A Wilson and Bress addition east of Jackson street for 1125 dollars, and Major Young to J A White for 120 acres in sections 25 and 36 of 17N-1E for 30 dollars.
