Fatal live-wire accident at Urania injures Miss Eva McCartney
Miss Eva May McCartney, 22, stepped on a live Louisiana Power and Light wire across a Urania sidewalk and was fatally shocked. She died at Alexandria hospital after being rescued from contact with the 6600 volt line. The company blamed the tragedy on failure to report the live wire and noted the line serves Olla Urania and Tullos with power from a Tullos plant.

Ouachita Natural Gas company has secured mineral rights to about 5420 and 87100 acres in Richland parish near the Gulf Refining company big gasser on the north bank of Clear Lake. Drilling on the newly acquired property will begin within sixty days. Sam D.
