Andrews of Ruston was awarded a contract for four cottages at Kansas plantation near Monroe for the Louisiana Baptist Children's Home. The bid totals 880,350 with potential 109,4550 for five cottages if the Mary Goss Charities cottage is included. Work to begin in three to four weeks with aim to relocate the orphanage from Lake Charles to Monroe within four to five months.
New Orleans banks report 75,000 residents in Christmas savings clubs this year and over 2,000,000 in savings checks to be paid out. Checks mailed December 10 to fund Christmas shopping. Canal Commercial Bank and Tivett Company list 81,261 members with 387,588 in checks to be mailed.

Oklahoma City November 24 Ku Klux Klan supporters won their first test of strength in the state senate by defeating a proposed provision to require secret organizations to publish membership lists. The vote left in place a requirement that officers of secret organizations register with county officials. Senator Harry Glasser led the attack on the Klan while Senator Wash Hudson defended the Klan as a law and order agency. The lower house will decide on Representative Murray Gibbons expulsion for alleged misconduct.
District Attorney David I Garrett of the sixth judicial district was ordered by Attorney General Coco to set December 10 for resuming the Morehouse misdemeanor cases at Bastrap. Trials were halted after defense sought Judge Fred M Odom's disqualification over alleged bias. the state supreme court declined to require recusal.
J. Walton former Oklahoma governor indicted yesterday will be arraigned November 28 before Judge G. W. Clark in state district court. Co-defendants Dr. A. E. Davenport state health commissioner and T. H. Edwards the governor's chauffeur will enter pleas at the same time. All have posted bond.
Two explosions damaged the Spanish and Italian consulates in Philadelphia injuring several and shaking homes. A box bomb at the Spanish consulate doorstep nearly killed none but caused injuries and shattered windows while the Italian consulate housed in a bank building was wrecked. Police suspect radical groups behind the blasts and heightened guards were ordered.
