False alarm fire in Monroe residence extinguished
Monroe fire department responded around 11 o clock Saturday night to a report of a bed fire on Wood street. Flames were put out almost immediately and caused minimal damage.

Shreveport high school defeated Monroe 13 to 0 at Shreveport baseball park. Phelps starred with long punt returns and a 6 yard run set up the second score by Arrington who added a goal. Arrington and Phelps each scored, with strong punting and tough Monroe defense in the second quarter and steady Shreveport rally in the fourth.

Fort Smith reports the Crawford Oil and Gas Company brought in the second large gas well in Crawford county within two days. Drillers said the test indicates at least 1,000,000 feet of gas with producing sand intact. Officials predicted the well could reach 20,000,000 feet when shut in.
