In Troy New York on November 23 a blaze tore through Hillside Catholic asylum trapping about one hundred eighty orphans. Firefighters fought the flames through the night as rescue operations continued and safety measures were underway.
Josephine Haldeman Julius and Aubrey Roselle reflect on two years of marriage in a statement to United Press. Haldeman Julius, 19, was located in a Chicago department store book department. Roselle, 21, works as an accountant for a nearby firm.

Unconfirmed reports say bubonic plague but officials say the disease is not yet determined. Ships avoid the island while nearby territories prepare to combat the outbreak. New Orleans November 24 passengers aboard the Florida New Orleans Bus of the Teche Transfer company escaped a fatal blaze on the Pontchartrain bridge as the driver spotted the fire and rescued all aboard. Officials said no one was hurt and baggage was saved. The palatial car valued at 9000 dollars burned. Passengers included J H Martin son of a former Florida governor and J T Hogan of New Orleans US Shipping Board official.

MEMPHIS Tenn November 26 a Winsome girl age 17 married Lyell Boyne Norris 24 at night after doctors warned she could not live. She died within 24 hours with her finger circled by a wedding ring as a spectator sang Oh Promise Me.

Maiden Massachusetts firemen battled a cellar blaze and found themselves knee deep in beer after a pipe connected to fifteen 500 gallon tanks burst flooding the cellar. An estimated 45 000 bottles of beer escaped and health officials condemned the building.
Governor Huey P. Long announced he will not back Francis Williams or T Semmes Walmsley in New Orleans mayoral race signaling a hands off approach to the city election.
Louisiana state records show the Caldwell and Co. bid for a 5 million dollar hard surfaced highway bond issue. The sale included 1 million at 5.15 percent with Guaranty Trust Co Alexandria and 400 thousand at 5.05 percent with a depository, plus 3.6 percent on remaining funds. Attorney General Percy Saint says he was unaware of depository features and will raise the issue at the next board session.
Earl Walker 35, unmarried of Bethany, was killed in a drilling rig mishap in Panola County Texas. He was struck by a tong handle on Natural Gas Drilling Co Roquemote No 11 and died instantly. He had lived in Bethany two years and previously in Maneffield.

The barge Charleston of Slidell owned by Weston Lumber was driven from moorings by a northeast gale and washed ashore near Ship Island Fort Massachusetts. Five men aboard were rescued by a Pengreep boat. four were Weston Lumber employees and one a steamship crew seaman. The vessel is reported a total loss.
