Four young girls became the most successful liver transplant patients to date at the University of Colorado Medical Center. The oldest Paula Kay Hansen received her new liver on August 1 and shows progress, with three of the four children having relatively normal liver function. Doctors caution it is early, but the transplanted girls offer hope that liver grafts can improve survival beyond prior records.
