Japanese air raid on Shanghait reveals Chinese air force training and newer aircraft. Ground defenses saw little anti-aircraft fire, suggesting batteries moved to Chungking and Hankow to protect the new government. Ground crews mistook Chinese planes for Japanese.
Princess Baba Valeria Brooke, daughter of the Rajah of Sarawak, wed wrestler Bob Gregory at Marylebone registry. Gregory, 25, a former husband and physical culturist, plans to quit wrestling per the princess. The union defies her father Charles Brooke who rules northern Borneo.
The Duc de Guise, exile in Belgium, issues a 5000 word manifesto in Paris declaring plans to reconquer the throne. The move excites royalists while government agents pursue the Count of Paris who left Versoix after Swiss police asked him to depart for political activity.
Mrs. Joseph A. Zeller, 51, was stabbed to death with scissors in her New Orleans home. Police booked her husband, 52, on a murder charge after their son 19 said he found his mother on the floor with his father standing over her. The husband inflicted self inflicted wounds while officers subdued him. The coroner listed the death as a stab wound to the left breast. Survivors include three sons.

Leaders push Roosevelt four point plan on agriculture wages hours reorganization and regional planning.
Judge Orther Charles Mouton died at 79 in Lafayette after 55 years practicing law. He retired two years ago and had served as district judge earlier. Survived by daughters Mrs Ruth Hamilton of Lafayette and Mrs Anne Hebert of Lake Charles. brother of late Judge Julian Mouton. Funeral held today.
New Orleans dispatch reports a weather bureau warning for Texas coast. Small craft warnings ordered at 8:40 am from Port Arthur to Corpus Christi with fresh to possibly strong northeast and east winds expected Monday.
President Roosevelt, as officials say, may send to Congress this week proposals to stimulate private building. Possible measures include RFC loans to mortgage firms for large housing projects with dollar-for-dollar private funds matching and raising FHA insured loan financing for small homes by lowering the down payment from 20 percent to 15 percent.
Howard E. Coffin 64, noted textile magnate and wartime air expert, was found dead with a bullet wound at Sea Island home. Coroner ordered an inquest due to lack of witnesses. investigators suggest the rifle nearby and Coffin’s cheerful mood during hunting talk. Coffin’s bride Gladys Baker was in New York. Coffin had risen in automobile, airplane, and textile fields.
In Chicago a 16 year old girl Lorraine Harynek signed a police statement admitting she told Warren S Stanley a false pregnancy claim when he was found dead with a gunshot after a stolen car wreck. The cadet was a Missouri Military Academy student in Mexico Missouri.
Senator Ellender and Senator Bankhead back compulsory crop control with a minimum acreage allotment to protect small farmers. Representative A Leonard Allen criticizes the lack of immediate cotton legislation and starts talks with cotton states on proposals. Representatives Overton Brooks and J K Griffith also express support.
A railroad crossing accident near Bossier City, Louisiana, early today resulted in four deaths. Victims include Gordon Eggleston 22 of Shreveport a drug store employee son of R W Eggleston. Melvin Hudson Johnson 30 a grocery worker who recently moved from Prescott Arkansas. Mrs Sadie Lape 26 of Panama City Florida wife of Art Lape.
Five box cars were smashed when a Missouri Pacific freight train derailed at Rochelle in Grant parish on November 22. No injuries were reported. Officials blamed a broken journal and noted the train crossed the Little River bridge before diverting traffic to Ferriday and Colllinston while the main line was repaired.
Sheriff Milton Coverdale said Milton Ward confessed to holding up Tom Puwitich, owner of the Trenton Street bar, West Monroe, on November 13. Ward was arrested with deputies and Wee Monroe police at Clarence Clark’s home on Jonesboro road. Ward faces robbery with firearms charges. bond not set.
W. K. Shannon, claiming to be Monroe's oldest native-born resident, marks his 84th birthday. He drives a team to market his garden crops from Sterlington road, recalls his father founding The Ouachita Register, and notes his Civil War era schooling in Paducah before later decades in Monroe.
