Grandson of ex Governor Harris Confesses to Double Killing
Isham G. Harris, grandson of former Tennessee governor, confessed to killing J. D. Smith a 64 year old tenant farmer and Earl Sheridan in Memphis. He said Smith insulted his wife and identified the victim with Mrs Harris. A third man is sought. Smith's body was found in a ditch after a night ride incident. Sheridan's body had been located earlier. Harris planned to be charged with murder.

Woman Held For Passing Worthless Checks Here
The mother of a two year old who served time in Missouri penitentiary was expected to plead guilty to issuing worthless checks when arraigned in Little Rock. Mrs Florence McBeth 25 of Houston Texas reportedly told Chief Pitcock she had passed a number of worthless checks in Monroe and Alexandria. Disposition of the baby’s welfare was undecided if she pleads guilty and is sentenced.
