Progress Oil and Gas Company announces No 2 gas well near Monroe produced 10 to 15 million cubic feet of dry gas daily, three times the first well. The dry gas smells of oil, boosting belief in a large local oil field. Driller R E Allison plans to move equipment to Well No 1 to drill through rock, possibly to 3000 feet. Twenty unexploded bombs were found in the sugar cargo of the American steamer Sarnia upon arrival at Cherbourg France. The ship had caught fire during the voyage from New York, according to the fourth mate Wybb brance who arrived in New York today.
