Shreveport, La November 12 Democratic state central committee chairman Frank J. Looney said John C Feldman of New Orleans withdrew from the gubernatorial race leaving eight candidates. The last day to withdraw without forfeiting the filing fee was today. The committee can return $100 of the $300 fee. Other withdrawals include An the A Mouton of New Orleans for secretary of state. The eight gubernatorial candidates listed are Sam Caldwell Ernest Clements James H Davis Dudley J LeBlanc Lee Lanier Lewis L Morgen James H Morrison and Vincent Moseley. Also announced were withdrawals for the state Central Democratic committee seats: M C Redmond William J Cross E C Readheimer John F Golden A M Pyburn John Y Winn Gilbert T Brown Jr R L Gay and James O Helms. Death of H H Wamsley of Redune reported in an automobile accident.
Allied reports from Algiers describe heavy Allied air action over Greece and Italy. American bombers destroyed Eleusis field near Athens and hit Larissa while Mitchells targeted rail links around Athens Salonika. Fortresses damaged or destroyed numerous enemy aircraft on the ground amid continued Mediterranean airwar.

A jury found A W Towns and J D Milam guilty of negligent homicide in the Wille Hopkins murder case at Ouachita parish prison camp. The verdict followed a four day trial. sentence to be imposed after a 24 hour period.
London reports the Royal Air Force mounted its biggest bomber assault to date, sending 700 to 900 heavy bombers to Berlin and Ludwigshafen with two 4-ton munitions and incendiaries. In Graniteville on a Novembers night 50 year old Jamie L Quimby shot at officers after tear gas failed to subdue him. He stood on a window with a pistol as State Constable Joe Hine fired fatally. Mrs Quimby was wounded and hospitalized. Police found multiple rifles and pistols in the home.
