Hollywood dispatches report the Breen office bans a biographical documentary on Alpone. The piece critiques government film policy and recalls earlier actions during the New Deal and 1936 campaign, noting use of symbolism to depict economic systems and social issues.
Italy moves to bolster the navy police from 20,000 to 75,000 amid widespread unrest. Minister Scelba vows to deal energetically with threats to democracy as Communists denounce the government and warn of fascist resurgence. Disorder persists in Rome province, Siena and Venice areas.
At Willow Run airport a two engine Eastern Air Lines plane belly-landed smoothly after an emergency. Pilot Lt Thad Royall 32 of Jacksonville Florida guided the craft to a field saving passengers including R W Armstrong 31 of Danville Virginia. Bus transported them to Willow Run for a later flight to Cleveland. Three remained for further arrangements in Minneapolis.
Twenty five Communist members walked out as Pierre de Gaulle was elected president of the Paris municipal council amid protests against Vichy supporters. Police and soldiers surrounded city hall with about 500 personnel during the vote. The political crisis included talks between Paul Reynaud and Leon Blum and a coal strike spreading to Pas de Calais, raising unrest.

The Friendship Train, begun in Los Angeles with 12 carloads of food for Europe, divided into three sections near New York. An 87 car section moved through New York State, a 27 car section passed through Pennsylvania to New York, and a 50 car section crossed into the city. The Pennsylvania leg, carrying flour and other provisions, planned to pick up 20 more cars in Philadelphia before heading to Jersey City, with international representatives aboard.
Senate hearing reveals Maj. Gen. Bennett E. Meyers financed the Aviation Electric Co. in Dayton but his name was crossed from incorporation records. B. H. Lamarre testified Meyers directed the move as subcontracts totaling over 1 million dollars flowed to the firm. Meyers, retired, led air force procurement during the war.
Sacramento dispatch reports Governor Earl Warren, elected last year as a favored candidate of both parties, will pursue the Republican presidential nomination and delegate votes from California. He denies seeking entry from Democrats, arguing the two party system best serves the nation and predicts a Republican victory next year.
A military spokesman in Bangkok says a would be assassin is en route to Lausanne to kill King Phampiphon Adaldet, part of a conspiracy to overthrow the monarchy and install a republic. The plan was tied to the coup of November 9, with an alleged date of November 30 for the act.
Alfred Krupp von Bohlen and Halbach and 11 former directors pleaded innocent before a U.S. military tribunal on charges of waging aggressive war, plundering and exploiting slave labor. The arraignment lasted 30 minutes and a Dec 8 start was set for the trial with a lengthy prosecution, possibly months, ahead.
Funeral for Cpl. E M Reeves killed in an auto crash near Camp Pine New York will be Tuesday at 2 30 PM at Bethel Church Rev Franks to lead with American Legion Post 162 pallbearers and a graveside military service. Survivors include parents Mr and Mrs W E Reeves of Columbia three brothers Curtis Richard Wilber and sister Miss Elma Ruth Reeves of Clarks.
Bully Fields, 23, was captured early Sunday morning after Ellis Bamburg confronted him in his home near the Brown Paper Mill with two coke bottles. Night watchman S B Hales aided the arrest by covering Fields with a pistol before turning him over to parish prison.

A 30-year-old draftsman died from gunshot wounds after mistaking a neighbor’s home for his own and being shot by the neighbor who believed him to be a burglar. Wayne F. Miller, 29, a photographer, said he fired two of four .22 caliber bullets into Henry F. Drane after the draftsman entered breaking a glass pane. Drane, unconscious at the hospital, said he had been drinking and thought the Miller home was his. The two brick homes share design and sit within five houses of each other.
President Truman urged Congress to reimpose rationing authority and wage ceilings to curb inflation. He outlined a ten point program including consumer rationing, price ceilings, rent control, and expanded export and transportation controls to stabilize the economy and aid Europe. He warned inflation is already pressing and proposed measures to relieve monetary pressure and direct scarce goods to essential uses.
