Supreme Court Justice Pierce Butler Dies at 72
Justice Pierce Butler, a longtime conservative voice on the U S Supreme Court, died at 72 after a period of bladder illness. Appointed by Harding in 1922, Butler faced opposition from progressives earlier in his career and was noted for his dissents and brisk questioning in court. He was the court's only Catholic member and leaves widow Mrs Butler and six children.

W E Reardon Civilian Rites Planned Friday
W E Reardon 58 a pioneer in Louisiana and Texas natural gas development and longtime general superintendent of Columbian Gasoline and Texo Gasoline died at 12 15 am Thursday at 200 Stubbs Avenue after a three week illness. He helped build Columbian Gasoline plants and contributed to the Monroe gas field expansion beginning in 1919. His birth was July 27, 1883 in Kane Pennsylvania. He is survived by family and was a noted authority in his industry with a legacy in gas plant construction.

W A Abe O Kelly longtime Monroe post office superintendent died Wednesday night in a Monroe hospital. The funeral was Thursday at St Matthew s Catholic church with burial in the Catholic cemetery where the American Legion s L B Faulk post held a military service. Peters Funeral service handled arrangements. He was born December 20 1887 and began at the Monroe post office in 1907 rising to superintendent in 1915 serving under six postmasters. He married Mattie Tarver and is survived by his wife four children two sisters and other relatives.
