Mr and Mrs William Lawrence Holcomb of West Monroe are listed in serious condition at Milan General Hospital after a head on collision on Highway 79 Sunday near Milan Tennessee. Ralph Byron Strickland 61 of Memphis was killed in the crash as the Holcombs car skidded on wet cement into Stricklands path. The Holcombs were transported to Milan General and will be flown back to Monroe when their condition allows.

Wet Pavement Triggers Rash Of Accidents In Monroe
A dozen injuries were reported as 18 accidents occurred in Monroe yesterday due to rain slick roads and poor driving. Hugh R. King, 83, of Harrisonburg, suffered four broken ribs when his car at Oak and Sixth street collided with Pearle R. King, 56, also of Harrisonburg, and Ernest A. White, 25, of West Monroe, was cited for running a stop sign. Kilie Albritton, Loop Road, was treated for facial cuts after a separate collision on Loop Road. Police recorded most crashes between 2 and 5 30 p.m. with rain blamed for the spate.
