Bridegroom Shows Improved Condition After Illness
In Hickory North Carolina on November 15 the New York copper heir Basil Bear, husband of 21 year old Martha Barkley of Morganton, was reported in improved condition at a hospital after hours of marriage. A hospital bulletin said he continued to move but visitors were not permitted. Physicians have not disclosed the illness of the 3 year old grandson of Thomas Fortune Ryan, though he is said to suffer a gastro intestinal disturbance and is highly nervous. Mrs Ryan remained at her parents home in Morganton.

Relief Provisions For Larger Corporations Debated
Washington tax sub committee tentatively agrees to exempt all corporations with net income of $5,000 or less from the undistributed profits tax. Liquor Count Arrests Made in Monroe
Two arrests for violating the week end bone dry city ordinance were reported by Monroe police. Fred Webster proprietor of the Wildwood Night club on DeSiard street and Richard Marlow an assistant at the club were charged for selling liquor past midnight. They were taken into custody Sunday about 1 a.m by Police Captain B L Brantley and Officers Dent Cornett Cummings. Webster and Marlow were released on bond and scheduled for city court Monday afternoon.
