World War I aviators die in fog bound crash near Sparta
Raymond W. Krout and Lansing C. Holden Jr., both World War I pilots and New York National Guard members, perished when their observation plane crashed into a foggy hillside near Sparta Tennessee. Mrs Shuster 100 Dies in Monroe North Louisiana’s Oldest Resident
Mrs. Sarah Shuster aged 100 died at the home of her daughter Mrs Hugh Bracy in Monroe Sunday morning. Funeral service was held Monday at 4 p m at the residence with Rabbi F K Hirsch officiating and burial in the Jewish cemetery. Active pallbearers included Louis Masur Don Weil Abe Arent S K Henninger E Jack Selig A H Salisbury A W Riggs H L Rosenhein Jonas Selig and H G Laffler. Honorary pallbearers were Dr George Snellings Dr Irving J Wolff Dr J B Taylor of Farmerville M é Pearson and family friends. She was born in 1838 in Bavaria and came to America at age eight after a 63 day voyage from Antwerp to New Orleans. She lived in Columbia Louisiana until 15, then married Isaac Shuster and settled in Shreveport before spending the war years in Memphis.
