The morning session of the Baptist Convention featured a prominent program on Christian education with emphasis on its role and impact within the church.
The second day of the Louisiana Baptist Convention opened with devotional exercises led by Dr F C Flowers and session chair T H McGregor. Dr Powers delivered an eloquent plea for Christian education, urging investment in Louisiana College and urging colleges to place "Let Us Make Men" over every school door. Funds for the orphanage and college improvements were raised, with major gifts noted from J C Reeves and broad support from pastors and women's groups.
George E Roberts, director of the United States mint since 1998 with a break as bank president in Chicago, departs today for a banking career in New York. He previously edited a newspaper in Iowa and served as State Printer. Treasury officials bid him a cordial farewell.
