US census data reveal October cotton consumption of 469532 bales lint and 74580 linters, with September and prior year comparisons. On hand Oct 31 in consuming establishments and storage facilities total over 5.7 million bales lint and linters, with imports and spindle activity also reported.
The regular monthly Court of Honor meets at 7 00 p m with Rev Marion S Monk presiding for another year. Members include C E Waulk Bred Thatcher SM McReynolds and F C Holden. Arthur R. Gould of Aroostook County has been chosen as the Republican nominee for the U S Senate seat left vacant by the death of Senator Bert M Fernald. Gould, born on a Maine farm, rose from farm laborer to lumberman and rail and utility holdings across a large Maine region.
Floyd Bennett aboard Commander Byrd’s Polar airship will arrive in Monroe Wednesday en route to New Orleans, finishing a 6120 mile U S tour. The flight supports aviation promotion with the Guggenheim Fund, Dept of Commerce, and Chamber of Commerce, stressing lighting, airways, airports, and air traffic development.
About two hours after arrival in this city, a plane is due to reach Washington around December 1. The arrival of two Western Conference teams will enrich Harvard football plans for next year, promising one of the Crimson’s most challenging schedules in years.
Education Week events at Barkdull Faulk school attracted 120 visitors for morning and afternoon sessions. A noon dinner for board members and wives preceded speeches urging growth with population change, larger teacher salaries, and expansion of the Barkdull Faulk auditorium and cafeteria.
Presbyterian services at the First Presbyterian church are announced with Sunday school at 9 30 a m led by Leon Hammond and an invitation to unaffiliated attendees. At 11 a m Rev Wallace Clift preaches The Lost Power with Christian Endeavor at 6 30 p m and the evening service at eight with the pastor speaking To Whom by May Concern.
