A midnight blaze in Holyoke Massachusetts claimed seven lives including five children. Fire officials believe an intruder started the fire on wooden porches and many residents escaped or were rescued. Ronald Langlois, 19, helped evacuate several people before flames trapped him, as authorities recovered the victims—Anita DuPont and Pauline DuPont plus their children Maurice and Ronald. Leo Roberge and his brother Edward Jr.. and Mary Anne Pronovost. Numerous residents were hospitalized but listed in stable condition.
