Black Hand letters threaten lawmakers and bankers in Louisiana

Threatening notes addressed to Crowley Welsh Jennings and Vinton bankers and millers were found, likely dropped from a train, demanding ten dollars a barrel for rice with a 30 day deadline. Federal agents were sent to Welsh to investigate while New York officials questioned suspects tied to a Wall Street explosion motive.

Criminal Court to Convene Monday in Monroe for Appeals

Monroe Plots Street Railway Extension and Car Barn

The city of Monroe plans to extend its street railway from the Riverside line to a new electric plant and to build a car barn in Forsythe park.
