Nine Irish prisoners in Cork jail end a 94 day hunger strike after Bishop Cohalan calls for its halt saying health risks are grave and the MacSwiney protest has drawn global attention. Mrs MacSwiney will testify in U S hearings starting November 17.
Threatening notes addressed to Crowley Welsh Jennings and Vinton bankers and millers were found, likely dropped from a train, demanding ten dollars a barrel for rice with a 30 day deadline. Federal agents were sent to Welsh to investigate while New York officials questioned suspects tied to a Wall Street explosion motive.
Alex Pipkins, described as of the old time type, faces prohibition charges after U S Deputy Marshals arrested him near Bonita, Morehouse Parish with a part of a distilling plant and several quarts of white lightning. He was jailed and planned for a preliminary hearing before U S Commissioner William O Kelly.
