Armistice Day Parade Lights Downtown With Martial Music
A large Armistice Day parade in downtown Shreveport drew several thousand spectators. Led by police, Col. F. P. Stubbs as grand marshal, and Lieut. Briscoe Trousdale, the procession included the firemen band, American Legion units, Veterans groups, Boy Scouts, Red Cross, and school floats from Ouachita Parish High School and Monroe City High School. Gus Watkins a 70 year old farmer was found dead beside the Dixie Overland Highway two miles east of Dunn La after being struck by a hit and run vehicle early today. An inquest by Dr R L May deputy coroner returned no verdict. The victim lived in Dunn and is survived by his widow and several children.
