Heavy 1949 Louisiana orange crop burden estimated at $1.5 million

In Buras Louisiana heavy bearing trees push the 1949 orange crop toward a value near 1.5 million dollars. The orange belt around here includes about 500000 trees with estimates of up to 1600 fruits per tree, plus a kumquat tree yielding about 4000 kumquats. Margaret Gustafson attended the scene.
