Insurgents advance on Madrid as organized defense falters with light opposition. Reports indicate insurgent forces tighten control while civilian morale and local signals show declining resistance in the capital.
In Minden Louisiana a clash between striking sympathizers and a railroad engine crew left Engineer H E Cole and Fireman C H Walters beaten and clothes torn as about a score of people boarded the locomotive. The wreck occurred on the Vidalia branch near Greenville with two locomotives and ten box cars derailed and a fatal collision reported higher up the line.

A tall blonde woman in red corduroy pajamas was found delirious on the South Claiborne avenue bridge near New Orleans. Deputy Sheriff Earl Rolling of Jefferson Parish found her, she had no injuries, and Charity hospital released her with no record of her name. Officers believe she may have left a car or been pushed from the bridge.
Joseph Boylan a well known retired merchant and insurance executive died in Atlanta on November 10 as reported by the United Press. He built a successful business career and was active in civic affairs. He leaves a widow and several children.

The Oakland family lived in Arizona and west Texas before returning to Monroe in 1916. She had prolonged illness with several surgeries and frequent Texas trips for climate changes. She was active in social and Catholic circles.
United States Steel Corp reported finished steel shipments by its subsidiaries rose in October to 1,007,417 tons, up 45,614 from September and the highest October total since 1929. Compared with October 1935, this October was 320,676 tons higher, and ten month shipments reached 8,875,124 tons versus 6,027,964 a year earlier.
