Bastrop will observe Armistice Day on Wednesday November 11 with stores closing as usual and the American Legion post holding a barbecue for ex service men of Morehouse Parish. Mayor J R Ludlum issues a proclamation urging observance and tribute to those who fought for democracy.

Two Ships Seek Eleven Men Adrift in Caribbean
Two ocean going vessels the Dutch steamer Costa Rica and the Norwegian steamer Geisha joined Pan American Airways pilot Captain Frank Ormsbee in a search for eleven men adrift in a lifeboat and rafted aircraft crew near 10 22 N 76 52 W about 200 miles from Cristobal. The men reportedly faced high waves and a 23 mile per hour wind as the crew waited for a rescue plane.

Rodeo at McGuire Park Draws Big West Monroe Crowd
Nearly 1,000 fans attended the second Major McGuire Park rodeo in West Monroe with thrills from bronc riding and wild steer events. Jennings Arrested On Prohi Charge At Polk Street Home
J P Jennings arrested by Monroe police yesterday at 608 Polk Street on whiskey possession charges. He posted bond of 750 dollars. Earlier, Lee Joubert and Johnnie Williams were arrested at 102 Spruce Street where police seized three half gallon jars of whiskey.
