Dick Gregg, Oklahoma convict and bank robber suspect, abducted two Coffeyville police officers at noon, forced them into a stolen car, and fled 25 miles east before a chase by Chief Farl Hackney and Detective W H McMurtry. The pursuit ended when the abductor crashed, then disappeared into brush as bloodhounds were unavailable. Police guarded nearby banks amid the tense alert.
