FREIGHT STEAMER Nola BURNS NEAR NEW ORLEANS
The freight steamer Nola was reported burning in the Gulf of Mexico about 10 miles from the Mississippi mouth. Fire destroyed the vessel, crew took to lifeboats and were picked up by a French steamer. The Nola belonged to Gulf Navigation Company and measured 800 tons, 160 feet long with a motor. The Missouri rescued crew is en route to Galveston.
