Washington forecast a record cotton crop of 18,243,000 bales this year may renew calls for compulsory production limits. Estimates show a crop nearly 6,000,000 bales above 1936 and 265,000 above 1926, with possible effects on loans, stocks, and a processing tax.
The Supreme Court heard arguments in the government anti trust case against Aluminum Company of America. The government sought dissolution as justified in federal court in Pittsburgh with prior similar action in 1912.
