In Monroe, Huey P. Long ordered two citizens expelled after they challenged his statements during a tense speech. E. M. Steen of Jitney Jungle denounced Long for alleging fleecing the masses and broke into protest before state police officers intervened.
Huey Long charged The News-Star with trying to dampen attendance by publishing a wrong start time. He said the meeting began at 7 o'clock, while The News-Star had announced 7 30. Judge Charles Schulze, a Long ally, believed the hour was 7 30 and arrived at the Ouachita parish school auditorium accordingly.
An incident at the Monroe meeting spilled into a melee as Long supporters assaulted Senator Steen while State Senator James A Noe intervened to protect him. D M Doughty a Monroe insurer was ejected after resisting guards. Tarver Monroe police chief said he removed Doughty to prevent further violence.
Baton Rouge leaders preview meetings of the state tax reform commission and a conference of third seventh and sixth district legislators. They will discuss an economy-focused special session and an unrestricted study of the commission’s latest report amid calls for broader government economy measures.

In Sioux City Iowa authorities report another railroad bridge burned during the farm strike. The Chicago Milwaukee St Paul and Pacific bridge near Portsmouth was set alight with kerosene traces found, blamed on farm strikers as pickets abandon highways.

Government forces opened heavy bombardment on the fortress at Azares at 11 a.m. as ABC rebels faced machine gun fire and sporadic long-range attacks. A UPI reporter attempting to reach the fortress was blocked by a government cordon while trucks filled with troops moved through Havana streets. Soldiers searched the Dragones barracks area and forced looters to return stolen items from the desertion scene.
Government forces moved to strike at the San Ambrosio barracks as civil casualties rise with 50 to 75 reported dead and about 200 injured. Havana life halted as a state of war grips Cuba and rebels clash in multiple towns.
