New York reports a broad Democratic landslide with Taft and Roosevelt defeated in their states. Democrats win majorities in multiple legislatures and will gain seats in the House. notable gains in New York, Illinois, Pennsylvania, and Ohio. Taft arrives at the White House with no statement on results.
The San Francisco fair bond amendment was ratified by a heavy vote in San Francisco and the Northern counties, with a small vote in the southern section.
Early results show Democratic majority in the House of Representatives widening to at least 57 seats, with Republicans holding a rapidly narrowing Senate near a 48-seat threshold. Ohio Governor Harmon leads by about 60,000. Dix in New York about 65,000. Wilson in New Jersey around 80,000. Baldwin in Connecticut about 3,500, as Indiana remains undetermined.
Chicago Nov 9 Democrats elected 216 members to the House of Representatives, Republicans 158 and Socialists 1. Districts missing or in doubt 16 totaling 891. Net gains place Democrats ahead by 48 seats with 53 gains for Democrats and 5 for Republicans. Securing control of the next House was decisive.

Helena Montana November 9 Both Republicans and Democrats claim control of the legislature to elect a successor to United States Senator Carter with fifty two votes needed. Democrats claim 61 and Republicans 58 on joint ballot.
Portland November 9 Oswald West Democrat leads in early returns with a plurality estimated between 2500 and 5000. Indications say Oregon has gone wet as counted ballots show West ahead in the governor race and voters leaning toward prohibition repeal in the state.
Ben W. Hooper defeated Senator Rob L. Taylor for governor in Tennessee by a wide margin, becoming the first Republican governor in years and the third in state history. He was found as a child in Nashville with unknown parentage. Captain Hooper of Newport aided his early life.
In St Louis on November 9, both party managers claim victory for their state tickets. The city delivered a large Republican majority unseen in years, with gains approaching thirty thousand in some wards. Prohibition statewide is claimed to have won by about 140,000 votes.
St Louis November 9 Republican chairman Morris declared the party carried the entire state ticket and five congressmen while conceding Democrats hold a joint majority in the legislature. Democratic senatorials feature James A Reed defeating David R Francis in key races.

Memphis Tennessee November 9 The News Scimitar reports at 11 o clock that with complete returns from 69 counties and conservative estimates in the remaining 27 Hooper has a governor majority of 16903.
Columbus reports Harmony's plurality likely exceeds 66,000 from current indications. Democrats claim victory for the entire state ticket with possible exception of Attorney General Denman, shaping a decisive election outcome.
At Democratic headquarters in Indianapolis on Nov 9 officials say the legislature will be Democratic by at least twelve on joint ballot and two. John W. Kern is set to succeed Beveridge in the Senate.

The Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers ordered a strike vote on 61 railroads out of Chicago. If ballots favor the strike, the move could halt lines including the Atchison Topeka and Santa Fe, Gulf Colorado and Santa Fe, and Southern Kansas. Results expected by December 10.
