An Air Force B-47 Stratojet from Altus Air Force Base crashed on a farm near Hobart Oklahoma during a routine training flight. Four officers Maj Joseph E Wilford Capt Francis P Bouchard Capt Lee D Ellis Jr and 1st Lt Andrew J Toulson were killed. The bomber struck a hay barn and exploded sending flaming wreckage over a wide area.
