Japanese forces captured Tsing Tau as German port defenses collapsed before surrender. The clash ended with Allied reports stating a significant loss of German maritime strength in the region and the fall of the coastal fortress.
Tokio reports on November 7 that Tsing Tau fell to Japanese forces at 9 30 this morning after desperate assaults. German forts were unable to hold as gunnery killed workers and destroyed repairs. The capture will release Japanese and British ships to raid German merchantmen in the Pacific, and rejoicing is widespread in Japan.
London reports relief grows that Germany is moving troops from Poland to France and Bergen to enable a large scale transfer. German positions behind the Warthe and from Cra cow to the Carpathians are strong. Kaiser expected to move thousands westward though no decisive eastern results. French report notes only minor engagements and no German advance.
