State police raided the basement of Jesus and Mary convent near Highland Mills after a maniac shot a janitor and barricaded himself. Tear gas failed to stop him, and troopers fired when he attacked. About 20 girl students and six nuns were inside.
Berlin reports four deaths amid clashes between police and transport strike sympathizers. Authorities say attempts to run a skeleton service were thwarted as cement filled switches and wires were cut, with extensive damage to buses and streetcars despite police protection. Three thousand of fifteen thousand strikers returned to work, while others hampered services by throwing rocks.
In New Orleans on November 5, police sought the mother of a blue eyed baby boy found abandoned near Montegut and Galvez streets beside railroad tracks. Arcadia La Nov 5 M W Norrell Smackover Ark oil field worker and co defendant Oscar Russell faced murder charges for the slaying of Ringgold Town Marshal Elmore Buckner at 1 am Oct 27 in Bienville Parish Norrell pleaded guilty to the charge without capital punishment and was sentenced to life imprisonment by Judge E C Mc Clendon Russell entered a not guilty plea and may seek a change of venue Norrell said he bore no ill will toward Louisiana and would “make a man of himself” in the penitentiary

Members of Ouachita Parish junior college football team escaped serious injury when the bus rear axle failed on a curve 100 miles south of Melville. The accident 76 miles south of Alexandria halted traffic for nearly an hour as the squad arranged another bus to continue to Monroe after playing Southeastern Institute at Hammond. Senator-elect John H. Overton was among those delayed in the obstruction.

A damage suit filed by P. Oliver and Son Inc against the Lake Charles dock board seeks 453 thousand 371 dollars and 17 cents for alleged breach of contract.
