Commercial use under the original plan would have been taxed fifteen cents per thousand gallons.
Two thirds of relief program road construction in Ouachita Parish has been completed under the emergency plan. Fred M. Hill says $75,000 was budgeted with nearly $50,000 spent this fall, much of it paying farmers. Farmers received preference and work was distributed among the farming community.

Mrs Myrtis Bairfield a 17 year old girl attempted suicide Sunday afternoon by shooting herself in the breast with a pistol. She was resting fairly well at St Francis sanatorium last night and Tuesday morning. The act happened at the home of farmer R L Boles twelve miles northwest of West Monroe. Family difficulties given as cause.
Governor Huey P Long orders all general election returns rushed to Baton Rouge by state highway officers to expedite the road and bridge construction program. Ouachita is named as a centralization point for the 10 parishes and officials are instructed to forward returns promptly by motorcycle or state automobiles.
