Associated Press reports General Funston says Carranza troops led the border firing while Calles and Villa tried to shield lives and property. Funston cites Villa’s 12000-strong force location unknown and notes ongoing maneuvers near Douglas and Agua Prieta. Villa’s capture attempt failed but forces plan guerrilla actions against Carranza troops.
Mississippi board of health confirms Dr. Jose Goldberger's Pellagra experiments at Rankin state convict farm show unbalanced diet triggers Pellagra and that balanced rations can cure. twelve prisoners began February 15, 1915, diet excluded milk meat eggs peas and beans. six had pronounced Pellagra and two showed symptoms. those affected to receive curative treatment with balanced meals.
London reports German leadership denies peace aims as Prince von Buelow declares Germany determined to push the war to a conclusion. French and British forces gain signals on the Macedonian front while Serbians retreat toward central defenses and Russia concentrates forces at Reni for possible action on Bulgaria.
Berlin announces German advances north of Kralivo Serbia with 650 prisoners. Bulgarians seize Kalafat near Nish. Mi kulischkii recaptured from Russians between Swinton and Ilsen lakes. Von Bothmer takes 3000 Russians near Sienikokoe and Germans gain 800 yards of French trenches near Magsigies in Champagne.
