Larry Gregory, 24, of Decatur Mississippi, is charged in Louisiana and Mississippi warrants with airplane theft and related crimes after stealing a light plane in Newton Mississippi that was later found in a tree near Ruston Louisiana. He faces charges of leaving the scene of an accident and criminal damage to property, with a house burglary alleged in Ruston related to the crash. Gregory reportedly told deputies he aims to obtain a pilot license someday.
Fourth District Judge Fred Fudickar Jr. ruled that supervisors in Ouachita Parish school systems cannot share proceeds from a 1968 sales tax. He found the tax call defined eligible teachers as school employees and excluded central office supervisors. The decision aligns with no formal state teacher definition used by the Department of Education and Webster's Dictionary. The Escrowed funds remain in limbo as boards await final action.
Wholesale prices rose eight tenths of a percent in October led by farm products up 2.4 percent. Higher costs for livestock fruits vegetables grains poultry and oilseeds plus cars and trucks pushed the index, signaling higher retail prices ahead.
