October Traffic Toll In Monroe Totaled Ninety Nine Crashes
Major J. P. Tate of Monroe police reports 99 traffic accidents in October with 22 people injured. Four pedestrians were struck, 87 vehicle collisions occurred, plus one with a bus, one with a train, one with a bicycle, and three with fixed objects. Five injuries were severe and the rest slight.

Missing Boy Believed Kidnapped in Long Search
EAST MEADOW New York police now believe two year old Stephen Damman was kidnapped after a house to house search over 20 square miles ended. Thousands of volunteers including Mitchel Air Force Base personnel joined the effort to locate the boy who vanished Monday from in front of a supermarket where his mother Marilyn left him with his sister Pamela in a carriage. The baby was found nearby but the boy remains missing despite the extensive search.
