Robert R. Rochester aged 55, independent candidate in the January Democratic primary, died at his son’s home in Istrouma a Baton Rouge suburb. He had not actively campaigned and left five rivals in the race. Funeral services are set for 4 p.m. at Istrouma Presbyterian with interment in Roselawn Memorial Park. He is survived by his wife, a son, a daughter, a brother, and seven grandchildren.
