Diplomas were awarded by Rev. Father N F Vandegaer at St Matthew's Church for the class of 1933. The commencement featured a sermon stressing Catholic education, virtue, and service, urging graduates to lead Christian lives and support ongoing parish schooling.

Robert R. King 60, formerly of Raleigh North Carolina, died in Baton Rouge after a sudden illness. In the typewriter business he had lived in New Orleans seven months before settling in Baton Rouge. He is survived by his widow four daughters two sons and a brother with ties to Virginia North Carolina and Greensboro.
Skyline horseback trail to Mt LeConte in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park is nearly completed. The eight and a half mile route starts over a mile above sea level, offering a high elevation ascent through rugged terrain. Manhattan Island also contains a cave once used by early Indians.
A 17 room English type residence in Kansas City's central residential district is being dismantled brick from the walls cut stone floors slate roof and mahogany wood work will be salvaged and stored for use in building a Georgian style suburban home for the same owner. The house was built about 30 years ago.

New Orleans celebrated the dedication of the Gulf-to-Lakes waterway with bands and gun salutes. The steamer Vicksburg of Federal Barge lines will depart for Chicago after ceremonies and a cargo-tow demonstration, with regional celebrations along the river and a Chicago ceremony on June 22. The all-water route connects the Gulf of Mexico to the Great Lakes via Illinois waterway improvements.
Fort Gibson Oklahoma May 31. At 21 Charles Wallis has built one of the southwest’s most elaborate natural history museums. His seven year collection includes 1000 arrowheads of all sizes and kinds and specimens of nearly every wild bird and animal in eastern Oklahoma. It also holds hundreds of butterflies bugs and beetles and an Indian collection with tomahawks skinning knives spear and double headed axes and grinding stones.
