Capt. E. G. Courtney has led rapid modernization of the water works and electric light plant in just over a month. In Atlanta on May 26 the election of Gov elec Hoke Smith as president helped establish the Southern International Poultry Association. Directors were elected and a plan to have a vice president from each Southern State was adopted.
Washington May 26 Senate finance committee summoned John H Allen and Whidden Graham of Allen and Graham New York to appear next Monday and produce literature they issued in support of the Canadian reciprocity bill. The inquiry seeks to establish if they were engaged to manufacture a position for the bill as promoters for farmers. Senator Stone said the men are promoters not licensed lawyers and will be questioned on their methods of promoting legislation. N P Hull of the Michigan State Grange protested the inquiry as an insult to farmers and lawyers but pledged the firm would be called.
