Lions convention faces closed Jasper eateries under padlock order
About 300 Lions clubs delegates and visitors faced a food squeeze in Jasper as main eateries closed by a circuit judge order in the Walker county prohibition fight. Solicitor Hunter cited nuisance petitions opposing beer handling in the dry county, leaving only a hotel dining room and hamburger stands.

Four prominent Negro lecturers will speak at a Bible institute at First Baptist Church North Eighth and Breard streets from Tuesday June 1 to Sunday June 6. Rev. P. C. City Court Hears Dr. Gregory Drunk Driving Case
Dr A B Gregory fined 250 dollars and ordered 60 days jail sentence suspended for driving while intoxicated on plea of guilty. Irby in Serious Condition After Desiard Road Crash

Man jailed for knife attack near Sterlington
Grover Mays, 24, of Sterlington, was arrested by the Ouachita sheriff Monday and jailed on a charge of slashing Frank Bridges with a knife after a Sunday fight in a woods near Sterlington. Bridges was treated by a local physician for facial wounds.
