Accident-Prone Man Misses Court After Latest Crash

An early morning fire destroyed the Monroe Packing Company on Highway 80 near West Monroe with an estimated loss of 125000. Firefighters from the parish unit were dispatched at 1 a.m. and returned at 6 50 a.m. The blaze, starting in the smoke house portion, nearly engulfed the building. Owner W A Allen and manager Paul Blackmon were unavailable for comment. Insurance on building and contents was about 85000.
